Belle Plaine and Benton in non-conference basketball action on Monday

With 16 points each for Benton were McKenna Kramer and Jenna Twedt. Emma Townsley had six rebounds. Twedt added four assists. With two steals each were Townsley and Grace Embretson. The team was 14 of 40 from the field, 6 of 21 for three-pointers and 11 of 14 for free throws. Benton had 24 rebounds, nine assists, five steals, one block, six turnovers and 13 fouls.

WSR (9-3) was 17 of 40 for field goals, 6 of 12 for three-pointers, and 2 of 5 for free throws. They had 28 rebounds, nine assists, three steals, two blocks, 15 turnovers and 12 fouls.

Benton (10-3) travels to Center Point-Urbana (11-1) on Tuesday, Jan. 18, hosts Williamsburg (8-4) on Friday, Jan. 21, and plays at Union (3-7) at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22.

Twedt led Benton (9-3) over South Tama (1-10) with 14. Addison Phillips added 12. Piper Nelson had 10 rebounds. Twedt had five assists and nine steals. Alyssa Tegeler had two blocks. The team was 25 of 52 for field goals, 9 of 30 for three-pointers, and 6 of 8 for free throws. the team had 39 rebounds, 17 assists, 22 steals, three blocks, 13 turnovers and six fouls.

South Tama was 4 of 32 for field goals, 1 of 10 for three-pointers, and 1 of 4 for free throws. They had 12 rebounds, nine steals, three blocks, 18 turnovers and nine fouls. Adriane Cerantes led South Tama with seven points.

Benton was led by Aiden Harris with 24 points. He also had 11 rebounds. Owen Tjelmeland four assists. With two steals each were Harris and Evan Daugherty. The team was 14 of 43 for field goals, 5 of 19 for three-pointers, and 6 of 8 for free throws. The team had 26 rebounds, nine assists, five steals, one block, 11 turnovers and 17 fouls.

Waverly-Shell Rock (8-3) was led by Keaton Farmer with 21 points. The team was 20 of 45 for field goals, 6 of 26 for three-pointers, and 7 of 12 for free throws. The team had 27 rebounds, 11 assists, six steals, 10 turnovers and 11 fouls.

Benton (3-8) was 22 of 49 for field goals, 10 of 23 for three-pointers, and 4 of 10 for free throws. The team had 27 rebounds, 17 assists, 12 steals, two blocks, 11 turnovers and 15 fouls. Evan Daugherty had 16 points. Blake Daugherty added 11. Noah Franck had seven rebounds. Owen Tjelmeland had four assists. Evan Daugherty had six steals.

South Tama was 7 of 30 for field goals, 3 of 13 for for three-pointers, and 6 of 10 for free throws. Daniel Wiese led South Tama with eight points.

Benton hosts Center Point-Urbana (3-7) on Tuesday, Jan. 18, hosts Williamsburg (10-2) on Friday, Jan. 21, and travels to Union (5-5) on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 3 p.m.

Belle Plaine girls’ basketball

Mia Boulton led Montezuma (10-2) with 16 points. The team was 24 of 57 for field goals, 13 of 32 for three-pointers, and 2 of 2 for free throws. the team had 31 rebounds, 14 assists, six steals, three turnovers and nine fouls. Belle Plaine statistics are coming.

Belle Plaine (9-4) hosts Keota (3-11) on Tuesday, Jan. 18, and travels to English Valleys (12-2) on Friday, Jan. 21.

Belle Plaine had 30 rebounds, 16 assists, eight steals, four blocks, nine turnovers and six fouls. Ben DeMeulenaere led Belle Plaine with 21 points. Keaton Parrott added 12. Ben DeMeulenaere also had 16 rebounds. Eli Ehlen had six assists. Benton DeMeulenaere had three blocks.

Don Bosco (2-9) was 17 of 51 for field goals, 9 of 20 for three-pointers, and 3 of 5 for free throws. They had 35 rebounds, 13 assists, one steal, three blocks, 18 turnovers and 14 fouls. Ty Purdy led Don Bosco with 23 points.

Belle Plaine (8-5) was 21 of 43 for field goals, 6 of 17 for three-pointers, and 3 of 6 for feee throws. The team had 32 rebounds, 14 assists, four steals, one block, 17 turnovers and 14 fouls. Ben DeMeulenaere had 20 points. Keaton Parrott added 10. Ben DeMeulenaere also had 15 rebounds. Wyatt Kuch had seven assists and two steals.

Belle Plaine hosts Keota (8-5) on Tuesday, Jan. 18, and travels to English Valleys (8-4) on Friday, Jan. 21.
