The Bobcat baseball team had eight hits in the first game at Independence. Jordan Thys was 2 for 3. Zane Frese was 1 for 3 with a triple. Lane Kaestner was 1 for 2 with two RBI. Easton Patterson was 1 for 3 with one RBI. Wyatt Rinderknecht was 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Cael Kaestner was 1 for 3 with two RBI. Benton had three errors. Benton had six pitchers. Gallagher threw for one out, allowed five hits, five runs (none earned), walked two and struck out one. Patterson took the loss and threw for two outs. He allowed two hits, seven runs (two earned), and walked four. Rinderknecht threw for one inning, allowed three hits, four earned runs, walked three, hit one batter and struck out one. Colby Lennie threw for one inning, allowed four hits, four earned runs, walked one, and hit one batter. Blake Daugherty threw for one inning, allowed no hits or runs, and walked one.

Benton had six hits in the second game. Thys was 1 for 4. Zane Frese was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Lane Kaestner was 1 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Cael Kaestner was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Benton had three errors. Thys was the losing pitcher, throwing three innings, allowing eight hits, nine runs (four earned), walking three and striking out three. Ryan Finn threw for three innings, allowed five hits, eight earned runs, walked three and struck out five.

The Bobcats had four hits against Anamosa in non-conference play. Gallagher was 1 for 2 with one RBI. Cael Kaestner was 1 for 2 with a double. Evan Daugherty was 2 for 2 with a double and one RBI. Benton had no errors. Lane Kaestner was the losing pitcher, throwing three innings, allowing nine hits, eight earned runs, walking one, hitting one batter and striking out six. Blake Daugherty threw one inning, allowed five hits and four earned runs.

Benton lost by one to Xavier in non-conference baseball action in Cedar Rapids. Benton had eight hits. Thys was 1 for 2. Zane Frese was 2 for 4. Casey Gallagher was 1 for 2. Cael Kaestner was 1 for 3 with three RBIs. Wyatt Rinderknecht was 1 for 3. Easton Patterson was 1 for 3. Evan Daugherty was 1 for 2 with one RBI. The team had no errors. Zane Frese threw for 6 1/3 innings, allowed eight hits, five earned runs, walked five, hit one batter and struck out four. Rinderknecht took the loss in relief, throwing for one out, allowing to hits, and one earned run.

Benton (13-15) hosts Williamsburg in a doubleheader Monday, June 27, with the first game starting at 5 p.m. Benton travels to South Tama (4-21) on Tuesday, June 28, for a doubleheader. Benton travels to Oelwein (4-17) on Wednesday, June 29, in non-conference action. WaMaC action resumes Thursday, June 30, in Dyersville as Benton faces Beckman (20-10). On Tuesday, July 5, Benton hosts Davenport Assumption at 7:30 p.m. District finals on Friday, July 8, will take place a site to be determined.
