Jesse DeMoss was 1 for 3. Benton had 10 strikeouts. They had no errors. DeMoss threw for seven innings, allowed six hits, three earned runs, walked four and struck out five.

McKee was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Jessa DeMoss was 3 for 3 with three home runs and eight RBIs. Sarah Gorkow was 1 for 4. Lexie Pippert was 1 for 3. Hope Moore was 1 for 3 with a double. There were no errors for Benton. Winning pitcher DeMoss threw for 4 2/3 innings, allowed one hit, no runs, walked three and struck out seven. Greiner threw for one out, allowed four hits, two earned runs, and walked no one.

Benton (23-14) plays Friday, July 1, at Iowa City West against North Scott (22-8) at 2:45 p.m. Benton plays host Iowa City West (8-26) at 6:15 p.m. On Saturday, July 9, Benton hosts Waterloo East (3-22) or Charles City (14-7) in the second round of Class 4A Region 6 softball.
