Benton Community (18-20) lost in the second round of the Class 3A tournament to No. 6 Western Dubuque (28-11) at Farley on Monday, July 11, 2022.

Benton had five hits. Getting singles were Casey Gallagher, Lane Kaestner, Wyatt Rinderknecht, Evan Daugherty and Trey Schulte. The team had one error. Jordan Thys threw for three innings, allowed six hits, three earned runs, walked one and struck out three. Ryan Finn took the loss, throwing three innings, allowing five hits, six runs (five earned), walking four, hitting one batter and striking out one.

Western Dubuque’s Tucker Nauman threw for six innings, allowed five hits, two runs, walked one, hit three batters and struck out 11. Ryan Klostermann threw for one inning, allowed no hits or runs, hit one batter and struck out three.

Western Dubuque stole seven bases. They had 11 hits. Western Dubuque defeated Clear Creek Amana (23-10) at Farley Community Park on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, 5-1, in the regional championship.
