
Vinton- Voters will have the opportunity to elect 5 members of the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Benton County Council at the Nov. 8, 2022, general election.
“The council members elected this year will be involved in bringing educational opportunities to Benton County for the next four years,” said Greg Walston, Director. ISU Extension and Outreach Benton County educational programming is a cooperative effort involving local citizens, Iowa State University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Extension council members are elected at large, and all voters in the county are eligible to vote for five candidates.
Candidates on this year’s ballot include:
- Amy Boddicker, 6962 27th Ave. Newhall, IA 52315;
- Dawn Edler, 5539 23rd Ave. Dr. Vinton IA 52349;
- Allison Hicks, 1922 62nd St. Dr. Garrison, IA 52229;
- Brian McNulty, 2545 7th St. Watkins, IA 52354;
- Scott Rathje, 2946 70th St. Newhall IA 52315;
- Wayne Shannon, 1211 1st Ave. Vinton IA 52349
- Katie Stadheim, 3022 56th St. Tr. Urbana IA 52345.
Extension council members whose terms expire this year are:
- Sue Birker, 5503 27th Ave. Dr. Vinton IA 52349;
- Allison Hicks, 1922 62nd St. Dr. Garrison, IA 52229;
- John Holst, 2626 63rd St. Vinton IA 52349;
- Brian McNulty, 2545 7th St. Watkins, IA 52354

Council members whose terms continue beyond the end of 2022 are:

Successful candidates will take office in January 2023. Extension council members make programming and budget decisions for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Benton County. They work with decision makers, build relationships, and address local issues. Extension council members are advocates, stewards and everyday citizens who link people with life-changing programs from Iowa State University. Through partnerships, they bring significant programs that help people solve critical issues affecting their lives.
