Supervisors talk holiday lights at meeting Tuesday

VINTON – Holiday lighting, wages for drivers and a truck purchase were on the agenda for the Benton County Board of Supervisors at their meeting Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, in Vinton.

The board approved use of the courthouse lawn for Holiday Parade and Santa visit on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022. Making the request was Melody Snow of Vinton Unlimited. They also discussed options for courthouse lighting for the holidays. Options include string lights and projection lights.

Dean Vrba, Benton County Transportation, received approval to increase the wage for drivers with a Class D3 chauffeur’s license. The wage will be $15.60.

American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds were approved for the area search project.

George Haefner, roadside manager in the weed department, discussed bids and specifications for a heavy duty pickup. The board approved purchasing a truck from the state.

He also presented the weed commissioner’s report, which was approved by the board. Supervisor Richard Primmer abstained.
