Norway Council – Dec. 19, 2022

December 19th, 2022

Regular meeting of the Norway City Council was called to order by Mayor Bruce Volz at 5:00 PM. Roll Call – Present: Ron Miller, Robby Miller, Kelly Luedtke, & Kevin Frese. Absent: Karson Kuester.

Motion to accept agenda, minutes, bills, and treasurers report made by Robby Miller and seconded by Frese Motion carried 4-0.

Council member Karson Kuester joined the meeting at 5:08pm.

Motion to approve adding veteran’s day and one floating holiday to the employee benefits policy made by Luedtke & seconded by Kuester. Motion carried 5-0.

Mayor Volz gave updates on a 28E agreement between the city of Norway and Benton County concerning maintenance on farm to market roads which will generate road use funds to the city.

Building on leased land was again discussed. Mayor Volz asked the council if they will allow building on leased land. Motion to approve building on leased land made by Robby Miller and seconded by Luedtke. Motion carried 5-0.

The city’s attorney has provided the procedures to sell a lot on Apache Drive. The city will begin those procedures.

Mayor Volz provided updates on the grant for more trees to be planted in the spring as well as the grant for a new generator(s).

The previously discussed industrial pre-treatment agreement has been scrapped as plans for the industrial property on Euclid Ave. have changed.

Mayor Volz spoke with a representative from Union Pacific Railroad regarding the fire station expansion and expanding south towards the railroad’s property. The city is waiting for more information from the railroad.

Nuisance properties- follow up with offenders is being handled by the city and city attorney.

Motion to adjourn made by Ron Miller and seconded by Robby Miller at 5:59pm. Motion carried 5-0.
