Wyatt Kuch had 21 points for Belle Plaine. Sam DeMeulenaere had 13 and Jax Stamp had 10. Stamp had 11 rebounds. Kuch had five assists. Brooks DeMeulenaere had five steals. Jabari Woodbury led GMG with 14 points.

Belle Plaine hosts Don Bosco (7-14) on Monday, Feb. 13, in Class 1A-6 first round basketball action.

Layne McLeod scored nine points for Belle Plaine. Mandy Chizek had nine rebounds. With two assists each were Alyssa Steiback and Ella Grieder. With two steals each were Grieder, McLeod and Lacie Rethman. Chizek had two blocks. GMG’s rReese Dieleman and Marriah Stonewall had 11 points each.

Belle Plaine travels to Iowa Valley (14-6) on Thursday, Feb. 9, as Class 1A Region 3 basketball begins. The game in Marengo starts at 7 p.m.
