County sets date for budget hearing

VINTON – The Benton County Board of Supervisors set their budget hearing to a later date for 2023-24, at the Benton County Service Center Conference Room in Vinton.

At the board meeting:

The board set a land use hearing date for Austin and Jenna Schulte, in Section 32, Florence Township. Monday, March 27, at 9:15 a.m.

The budget hearing was set for Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., at the service center conference room. Counties are waiting to see how proposed changes from the Iowa Legislature will impact the budget. Counties have until April 30 to set their budget for next fiscal year.

They approved a resolution to amend Resolution No. 22-53 on bank depositories, regarding balances with Cedar Valley Bank and Trust, Vinton and LaPorte City, and First Federal Credit Union, Urbana and Independence.

A conference call was held for union negotiations with Chad Swanson, Dutton, Daniels & Hines Law Firm. A closed session was held pursuant to Iowa Code 20.17(3).

Supervisors’ reports covered mental health, E-911, the communication tower and radio project. They also talked about generators for county facilities.
