County board approves land use change, fireworks

VINTON – The Benton County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday, March 14, at the Benton County Service Center Conference Room in Vinton.

A fireworks permit was approved for Charles Yedlik on April 8, May 17, May 28 and Oct. 28.

A land use hearing was held for Sheyenne and Hayley McNulty for land in Section 24, Fremont Township. This is near the city limits of Atkins. They plan to have a body shop there. Land Use Administrator Marc Greenlee explained parking, lighting, driveway, rural water, septic, signs, neighbors, and compatibility with the area land use pattern in the area.

A farm exemption was approved for Darryl and Tammy Vogt for land in Section 13, Leroy Township. The land is just east of Blairstown on land owned by Loretta Vogt.

The board approved the hiring of a part-time dispatcher, Paige Rambo, at the law enforcement center.

A post-election audit was held and there was a canvass of the special school election held on March 7.
