Hearing date is set for county budget

VINTON – The Benton County Board of Supervisors had a short meeting on Tuesday, March 21, at the conference room of the Benton County Service Center, Vinton.

The supervisors amended the 2024 budget hearing date. The date will be Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.

The board had a second tier canvass of the special school board election.

The board approved the Class C Liquor License for Bloomsbury Farm Inc., April 30, 2023, to April 29, 2024.

Sheriff Ron Tippett discussed an employment opportunity. A closed session was held pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(1)g. After the closed session, the contract was approved.

A Class C Liquor License was approved for Kacena Farms, for May 19 to 23, and July 28 to Aug. 1.

Minutes and claims were approved.

A contract was approved for jail medical expenses. There were two bids. Virginia Gay had a bid of $26,400 for the year or $2,200 a month. The board approved the contract with Virginia Gay.

Supervisor Chairman Tracy Seeman gave an update on communication towers in the county.
