Benton (6-1) lost the first game of a doubleheader at Manchester against West Delaware (3-1) Benton had six hits. Cael Kaestner was 1 for 3. Wyatt Rinderknecht was 1 for 3. Easton Patterson was 2 for 3. Ryan Finn was 1 for 2 with a double. Blake Daugherty was 1 for 3. The team had five strikeouts and no walks. Benton had three errors. Jordan Thys started for six innings, allowing five hits, one run, walking two and striking out 10. Rinderknecht closed for two-thirds of an inning, allowing three hits, two earned runs, and striking out one.

Benton finished strong in the second game for a WaMaC win. Benton had seven hits. Thys was 1 for 2. Evan Daugherty was 2 for 4. Cael Kaestner was 1 for 4 a double and one RBI. Rinderknecht was 1 for 3. Patterson was 1 for 3. Finn was 1 for 4. The team had six strikeouts and six walks. Patterson stole one base. The team had no errors. Lane Kaestner threw for six innings for the win. He allowed five hits, two earned runs, walked two and struck out seven. Drew Fillenworth threw for one inning, allowing no hits or runs and striking out one.

Benton hosts Clear Creek Amana for two games on Thursday, May 25, at 5 p.m., and hosts Waverly-Shell Rock (1-2) on Friday, May 26, in non-conference action at 7:30 p.m.

Wyatt Rinderknecht was 1 for 2 with a double. Easton Patterson was 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Ryan Finn was 1 for 3. Blake Daugherty had one RBI. Trey Schulte was 1 for 2 with one RBI. The team had five strikeouts and nine walks. In fielding, the team had two errors. Wyatt Rinderknecht started on the mound and threw for four innings, allowing three hits, five runs (two earned), walked five, hit one batter and struck out six. Drew Fillenworth picked up the win in relief, throwing for three innings, allowing four hits, walking no one and striking out four.

Benton lost the second game. The Bobcats had nine hits. Jordan Thys was 1 for 3. Evan Daugherty was 2 for 4. Cael Kaestner was 2 for 4. Lane Kaestner was 1 for 4. Patterson was 1 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Finn was 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI. The team had two errors. CCA had no errors. Finn took the loss, throwing for 4 1/3 innings, allowing five hits, seven runs (five earned), walking six, and striking out five. Evan Daugherty threw for one innings, allowed three hits, three earned runs, and struck out one. Colby Lennie threw for 2/3 of an inning, allowed one hit and struck out one. Thomas Lampkin threw for one inning, allowed no hits and struck out three.

Rinderknecht was 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Easton Patterson was 1 for 4. Blake Daugherty was 1 for 4. Drew Fillenworth was 2 for 4 with a double and one RBI. Benton had five walks and seven strikeouts. Benton had two fielding errors. Easton Patterson threw for two outs and allowed no hits, no runs, no walks and struck out one. Casey Gessner threw for 2 1/3 innings, allowed four hits, three runs (two earned), and struck out two. Lennie threw for three innings, allowed four hits, four runs (three earned), walked one, hit two batters and struck out one. Thomas Lampkin took the loss, throwing for one inning, allowing three hits, two earned runs, and walked one.

Next week Benton (7-3) hosts Vinton-Shellsburg (0-7) on Tuesday, May 30, at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday, June 1, they travel to Williamsburg (5-3) and play at 5 p.m. On Friday, June 2, they host East Marshall (0-4) in non-conference action at 7:30 p.m.
