PRESENTATION

Pat Pohlmann presented the Quilt of Valor to Mike Kerkman, Van Horne.

She said Mike was selected by a member of the community — Kelly Jameson at the bank.

Pohlmann said, “I walked into the bank and I walked out with a mission. Kind of like you did when you went into the service.”

She explained, “This quilt is a symbol of our gratitude for your service and sacrifice to our nation. We honor you for your valor and dedication. We hope this quilt brings you comfort and warmth.”

She concluded, “First, we honor you for your service to our country in the Navy. We honor you for leaving all you hopes here to stand in harm’s way in a time of crisis, protecting us from the efforts of war. And for your sacrifice.”

“Freedom is not free, and we all know that. And we thank you for your service.”
