Belle Plaine (9-19) won the IHSAA 1A Substate 4 First Round game SICL rival Iowa Valley (11-9), 13-9, using a nine-run seventh inning. Belle Plaine had 10 hits. Derek Kressley was 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs. Ty Alcott was 3 for 3 with one RBI. Peyton Dostal was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Hayden Neuhaus was 2 for 4 with a double and one RBI.
Belle Plaine stole seven bases. With two bases each were Wade Sankot and Alcott. With one each were Kressley, Dostal and Quentin O’Leary. Belle Plaine had six errors. Wade Sankot picked up the win, throwing for 5 1/3 innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs, walking six, hitting one batter and striking out three. Alcott threw for one inning, allowed one hit, four runs, hit one batter and struck out three. Mason Walter threw for two outs, allowed one hit, three runs, walked two and struck out one.

Derek Kressley threw for two outs, allowed six hits, six runs (one earned), walked two and struck out one. Don Bosco faces East Buchanan on Saturday, July 12, at 7 p.m. in the tourney semifinals.

Stealing one base each were Hosek, Eva Brannaman and Dahlquist. Belle Plaine had four errors. Taylor Johnson threw for 4 2/3 innings, allowed six hits, eight runs (three earned), and hit three batters. Allison Argo threw for one inning, allowed three hits, four runs (two earned), and walked one.
