VINTON – It was routine business for the Benton County Board of Supervisors on June 9, when they met at the Benton County Service Center in Vinton.
The board approved vacation carryover of 16.5 hours for Grace Schmidt, to be used in six months.
Engineer Myron Parizek received approval for Resolution #26-48, Wage & Classification change for Charles Betterton, according to union contract.
The board approved Resolution #26-49, Temporary Road Closure for RCB Culvert Construction on 59th St. Drive, just outside of Vinton.
The board discussed SF378 regarding new speed limit on paved roadway. The speed limit on paved roads will be 60 miles per hour on July 1. Parizek said several signs would have to posted with the new speed limit. It’s possible to use stickers to update the current signs. The board approved replacing the current 55 mph signs with 60 mph signs. Impact of recent rains on county roads was also discussed, focusing on “washboarding” of gravel roads.
The board acknowledged successful post-election audit. The board approved the canvass of the June 2, 2026 Primary Election (Resolution #26-50), reading results from each precinct from the June 2 Primary Election.
Henry Bratten, Cedar Valley Ranch, met to renew the lease agreement for Cedar Valley Ranch. They are looking at using a flat rate for clients. There are 34 residents there now. The capacity is 48. The rate is $75 per resident per month. The contract is for three years.
