Vinton – The Benton County Board of Supervisors met at the Benton County Service Center, Vinton, on Tuesday, Aug. 11, approving several new staffers.

The board acknowledged the resignation of Tess Ware, part-time cleaning position at the Benton County Service Center. Courtney Long was approved as new part-time custodian. The pay is $28.68 per hour up to eight hours a week.

The board approved hiring Lance Summey, part-time transportation driver. The hourly rate is $18.32. This may be raised by $1 to the full rate after his six months evaluation.

The board approved vacation carryover for Dean Vrba, Emergency Management. It is to be used by Dec. 31.

The board approved a fireworks permit for Charles Yedlik on Sept. 6, 2026.

Chairman Tracy Seeman gave reports on meetings with Integrated Roadside Management and Benton County Conservation. He added there was a sewer smell problem in the sheriff’s office. He said a vent pipe was plugged. The section was cut out and repaired. As far as he knows, the sewer smell has left the building.
