VINTON – The Benton County Board of Supervisors approved variances to the subdivision ordinance for two separate lots at their meeting Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, at the Benton County Service Center in Vinton.

The board acknowledged the appointment of the new county assessor, Jordan Neve.

The board approved a variance to the subdivision ordinance for Mike Evans. This allows for the transfer of a lot. No building is planned on the lot.

County Engineer Myron Parizek received approval for Federal Aid Agreement 6-26-HBP-S-042 with IDOT for County Highway Bridge Program Project BROS-CO06(135)—8J-06 on 63rd St. This is for a bridge replacement. This about three miles east of Highway 218. Benton County is reimbursed 100 percent by the IDOT (Iowa Department of Transportation). This is a 50-foot bridge.

The board also approved Federal Aid Agreement 6-26-HBP-S-043 with IDOT for County Highway Bridge Program Project BROSCO06(136)—8J-06 on 32nd Ave. Dr. This is for a twin box culvert. It is a short bridge now. Benton County is reimbursed for 100 percent of the construction cost.

The meeting closed with a discussion of soggy conditions after Monday night’s rain, preparation for the snow season and the status of equipment.
