Benton opened the 2020 portion of the girls’ basketball season with a loss at No. 3 Center Point-Urbana. Jenna Twedt scored 16. She also had 6 rebounds. Lauren Woeste added 5. Emma Von Ahsen had 2 assists. Alyse Harvey had 3 steals. The team was 9 of 37 in shooting, 2 of 7 for three-pointers and 7 of 18 for free throws. They had 31 rebounds. CPU was 22 of 54 for field goals, 6 of 22 for three-pointers and 5 of 10 for free throws. They had 28 rebounds. Ryley Goebel led with 14 points.

Boys’ basketball

Benton’s boys’ basketball season started its 2020 campaign with a loss at Center Point-Urbana, Friday, Jan. 3, at Center Point, 55-28. Drew Lange led Benton with 8 points. Grant Embretson had 6 rebounds. Turner Schroeder had 3 steals. Embretson also had 3 blocks, The team was 8 of 27 for field goals, 2 of 7 for three-pointers and 7 of 10 for free throws. The team had 17 rebounds. CPU was 19 of 46 for field goals, 7 of 29 for three-pointers and 10 of 17 for free throws. CPU had 27 rebounds. Keegan Koppendryer led CPU with 17 points.
