COUNCIL: Blairstown had March 9 meeting

BLAIRSTOWN COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS – March 9, 2020

The regular meeting of the Blairstown City Council was held Monday, March 9, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Benesh, Metz, Davidson and Bossom. Absent: Mokas.

Motion made by Davidson, seconded by Bossom to approve the Agenda as read. All Ayes.

Motion made by Metz, seconded by Benesh to approve the February 10th minutes. All Ayes.

Motion made by Bossom, seconded by Davidson to approve the February Financial Report. All Ayes.

Motion made by Metz, seconded by Benesh to approve the Insurance Renewal. All Ayes.

Motion made by Davidson, seconded by Benesh to approve the following submitted bills and added bills. All Ayes.

Public comment: Carla Boies, Paul Stults and Joel Thys were present were to discuss with the council city rules and the ways of enforcement by the city.

The monthly Maintenance Report was given. Motion made by Bossom, seconded by Davidson to approve sealcoating by Manatt’s. All Ayes. Discussion was held about the hiring of a part time employee and recent issues at the water treatment plant. Motion made by Davidson, seconded by Metz to approve the purchase of two overhead doors for the Maintenance building from Halstead Doors. All Ayes. Motion made by Bossom, seconded by Metz to purchase testing equipment for the water treatment plant and a backflow preventer. All Ayes.

The monthly Library Report was given.

The monthly Ambulance Report was given.

The monthly Fire Report was given.

Motion made by Metz, seconded by Davidson to approve a building permit for Bryan Johnson for a garage. All Ayes.

Motion made by Bossom, seconded by Benesh to approve a building permit for Paul Stults for shed/swingset. All Ayes.

Motion made by Davidson, seconded by Metz to approve a Liquor License for the Corner Bar. All Ayes.

Motion made by Davidson, seconded by Bossom to approve the Environmental Assessment from ECICOG. All Ayes.

Motion made by Davidson, seconded by Benesh to approve a $200 donation to Benton County Extension for the Summer Science Discovery Camps. All Ayes.

Discussion was held about a government contract with Verizon.

Motion made by Metz, seconded by Davidson to adjourn the regular meeting. All Ayes.

Mayor Kimm opened the public hearing at 8:23 for the FY21 Budget. With no public comment, motion made by Bossom, seconded by Davidson to close the public hearing at 8:25. All Ayes.

The regular meeting was called to order.

Motion made by Davidson, seconded by Bossom to approve Resolution 20-05: Approval of FY21 Budget. All Ayes.

No further business, motion made by Benesh, seconded by Davidson to adjourn, meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
