Belle Plaine gets first win

Belle Plaine picked up its first win of the season with a solid 32-0 win over Pekin, Friday, Sept. 4, at Packwood.
Quarterback Ben DeMeulenaere was 5 of 8 in passing for 43 yards and one touchdown. Belle Plaine ran for 236 yards. Luke DeMeulenaere had 22 carries for 128 yards and one touchdown. Connor Timm had 6 carries for 46 yards and one touchdown. Ben DeMeulenaere had three carries for 20 yards and a touchdown. Ean Allie had four carries for 39 yards.
Luke DeMeulenaere had three catches for 23 yards and a touchdown. Jackson Tegeler had one catch for 4 yards. Jaxon Kressley had 1 catch for 16 yards.
Chase Wickwire had 8.5 total tackles, with five solo tackles. Eli Ehlen had 6.5 total tackles with four solo. Benton DeMeulenaere also had four solo tackles. Luke DeMeulenaere recovered one fumble. Jared Ward returned one kick for 13 yards. Luke DeMeulenaere had four returns for 103 yards. Xander Osborne kicked off five times for 113 yards. Ben DeMeulenaere punted twice for 98 yards. Luke DeMeulenaere punted twice for 97 yards.
Pekin rushed for 170 yards, led by Jason Muhl with 50 yards. Colton Comstock had 36 yards passing.
Belle Plaine (1-1) hosts North Tama (0-2) on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.

Benton Community battled No. 2 Williamsburg Friday, Sept. 4, and lost in non-district football action, 40-22.

Colin Buch was 16 of 24 in passing for 179 yards and 3 interceptions. Lawrence Wallace rushed 21 times for 60 yards. Buch rushed 20 times for 44 yards and three touchdowns. The team passed for 179 yards and rushed for 104 yards.
Jacob Brecht had six total tackles, including 5 solo tackles. Austin Roos had one sack. Sam Wallace returned two kickoffs for 12 yards. Landon Schmuecker returned one for 20 yards. Jacob Brecht returned four for 42 yards. Luis Hernandez kicked off three times for 99 yards. Nathan Rottman kicked off once for 30 yards.
Williamsburg’s Levi Weldon was 6 of 13 in passing for 162 yards and a touchdown. He also had one rushing touchdown. Caron Huedepohl rushed for 102 yards on 15 carries for two touchdowns. He also caught one touchdown pass. Williamsburg rushed for 134 yards and passed for 162 yards.
Benton travels back to Williamsburg this Friday to host Oskaloosa.
