Belle Plaine’s volleyball team closed a successful 26-9 season with a loss Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Van Horne, to No. 7 Springville (27-4), 3-0.
Mandy Chizek had 21 assists. The team was 26 of 93 in kills with 12 errors. Nicholla Phillippe had 13. Alyssa Tegeler added 12. Tegeler and Jacy Gates each had one block. Chizek had nine digs. Jacey Reineke added eight. Phillippe had seven. The team had 42 digs. The team was 48 of 53 in serves with four aces. Kieran Holmberg was 12 of 12 with two aces. Tegeler was 7 of 8. Chizek was 6 of 6. Phillippe was 4 of 6. Grace Bean was 7 of 9. Reineke was 12 of 12 with two aces.
Springville was 44 of 104 in kills with 18 errors, led by Lauren Wilson with 14 kills. The team had 56 digs, and was 68 of 59 in serves with seven aces.
Springville will face Gladbrook-Reinbeck (32-2) at the state volleyball tournament in Cedar Rapids, Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m. The tournament continues Wednesday, with the championship on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 8 p.m.
Coach April Kressley observed, “It was a weird, but absolutely great season. I am very proud of these girls and all of the accomplishments throughout the year. Thank you to all of our parents and fans this season. But the biggest thank you goes to our seniors! They will be very missed.”
