Benton picked up a WaMaC win Thursday, Dec. 10, at Mount Vernon, 55-27, to remain undefeated in girls’ basketball action.

Jenna Twedt led Benton with 29 points. Zoey Junge had seven rebounds for Benton. Twedt had three assists. With two steals each were Emma Townsley, McKenna Kramer, Twedt, Addison Phillips and Junge. The team was 20 of 51 for field goals, 8 of 26 for three-pointers and 7 of 8 for free throws. The team had 30 rebounds and 11 turnovers.

Mount Vernon was 11 of 40 from the field, 0 of 9 for field goals and 5 of 9 from the line. They had 32 rebounds and 22 turnovers.

Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at Manchester

Benton kept winning the next night, Friday, Dec. 11, with a road win over West Delaware, 45-35, at Manchester.

Twedt led Benton with 14 points. Kramer added 11. Zoey Junge had nine rebounds for Benton. Twedt had five assists. The team was 14 of 49 for field goals, 5 of 20 for three-pointers and 10 of 18 for free throws. The team had 40 rebounds and 12 turnovers.

The girls travel to Mount Pleasant Monday, Dec. 14, in non-conference action. They travel to Williamsburg, Tuesday, Dec. 15, and host Vinton-Shellsburg Friday, Dec. 18.

Benton boys’ basketball

Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at Van Horne

Benton Community hosted West Delaware Friday, Dec. 11, in WaMaC boys’ basketball action, losing 59-39.

Aiden Harris led Benton with 13 points. With seven rebounds each were Isaac Cretin and Kyler Mahan. With three assists each were Colin Buch and Grant Lange. The team was 14 of 53 for field goals, 6 of 21 for three-pointers and 5 of 10 for free throws. The Bobcats had 32 rebounds and 12 turnovers.

West Delaware was 21 of 50 for field goals, 5 of 23 for three-pointers and 12 of 21 for free throws. The Hawks had 35 rebounds and eight turnovers.

The boys’ travel to Mount Pleasant on Monday, Dec. 14, in non-conference action. They host Williamsburg Tuesday, Dec. 15, and travel to Vinton-Shellsburg on Friday, Dec. 18.

Benton boys’ basketball gave meets just before local WaMaC action.
