SPORTS: BC girls sweep South Tama in home opener

Benton had 10 hits. Hope Moore was 2 for 4 with a triple and one RBI. Alyse Harvey was 3 for 4 with one RBI. Sarah Gorkow was 3 for 4 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs. Jesse DeMoss was 2 for 3 with a double. Emma Townsley was 2 for 2. Brielle Hogan was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Townsley stole two bases.

Katelyn Buscher threw for four innings, allowed one hit, one walk and struck out six. Tegan Vogt threw for one inning, walked two and struck out one. The team had no errors.

Benton had 11 hits. Hope Moore was 1 for 2 with one RBI. Harvey was 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs. Buscher was 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Townsley was 2 for 2 with one RBI. Ana Glawe had a double and one RBI. Hogan had one RBI. Jaida Lyons was 1 for 2. Hannah Greiner was 2 for 2 with one RBI. Gabby McGee had a home run with three RBIs. Lyons stole two bases.

The defense had one error.

Hope Moore was the winning pitcher, throwing for three innings, allowing no hits, two walks and striking out four. DeMoss closed for two innings, allowing no hits, one run, and walking three.

Benton travels to West Delaware on Thursday.
