BC sweeps CCA to advance to volleyball regional final

Benton Community (24-14) swept Clear Creek Amana (27-12) in the Class 4A Region 5 semifinal, Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at Tiffin.

Grace Embretson had 30 assists for Benton. The team was 45 of 137 for kills with 19 errors. Alyssa Tegeler had 14. Embretson had 11. Addison Phillips added eight and Piper Nelson had seven.

Tegeler had four blocks. Embretson had 16 digs. Emma Townsley added 11, With 10 were Olivia Janss and Nelson. The team was 68 of 75 for serves with seven aces. Nelson had three aces. Phillips added 2. Nelson was 11 of 11. Townsley was 19 of 20. Sarah Gorkow was 10 of 10.

Clear Creek Amana was 27 of 145 in kills with 24 errors. They were 68 of 69 for serves with four aces.

Benton had lost to CCA twice this season, 3-2, in WaMaC play, and 2-0 at the Prairie tournament.

Benton travels to Marion (35-8) for the next round on Tuesday, Oct. 26. The regional championship starts at 7 p.m.
