Belle Plaine’s baseball team (7-11) closed its season with a 11-7 loss to Alburnett (17-14). It was the second round of Class 1A District 5 baseball. The Plainsmen had six hits. Rhett Parrott was 1 for 3. Kanyon Schwab was 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Jack Schwenn was 1 for 2 with one RBI. Brock Dodd was 1 for 3 with one RBI. Wade Sankot was 1 for 2. Belle Plaine had three errors. Losing pitcher Nate Hoover threw for 2 2/3 innings, allowed three hits, six runs (four earned), walked five and struck out four. Wade Sankot threw for 3 1/3 innings, allowed three hits, five runs (three earners), and walked eight.
