Land use changes are approved at July 19 meeting

VINTON – Land use was the main order of the day for Benton County Board of Supervisors when they met Tuesday, July 19, at the service center in Vinton.

A land use hearing was set for Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, at 9:15 a.m. for Ron Boyer for land in Parcel C, Section 23, Canton Township. He plans to change the status of two acres of the land to residential use.

A land use hearing was set for Aug. 16, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. for Don Foltz for land in Section 23, Benton Township. They plan to change the status of two acres of their land to residential use.

A farm exemption was approved for Kim Dulin for land in Section 22, Taylor Township. Dulin plans to build a residence in a timber area on his property. This is just east of Vinton.

MMS Consultants received a farm exemption variance for land in Section 13, Leroy Township. This is north of Blairstown, involving the exchange of parcels between a veterinary clinic, Nutrien and Joel Thys. The board still needs to approve the final plat.

Law enforcement contracts were approved with Garrison, Mount Auburn and Luzerne.

The sheriff had a 28E agreement approved for the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) contract. This is the second year for this. Benton County works with Buchanan, Clayton, Delaware and Jones Counties.

A class C liquor license was approved for Hy-Vee Inc.
