
VINTON – It was a routine meeting for the Benton County Board of Supervisors Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022, at the county’s service center conference room, Vinton.
George Haefner, roadside management, discussed chemical pricing and ordering for the next spray season. Nutrien’s bid was $43 a gallon, for a total of $58,050. Van Diest, Webster City, had a bid of $46.44 per gallon with a total of approximately $60,000. The bid from Nutrien was approved. Ann Jorgensen of the Integrated Roadside Management advisory committee was at the meeting. Haefner plans to meet with the committee in January and said public outreach is a priority.
Abatement of taxes was approved for Parcel 240-92925.
The board accepted the resignation of Doreen Anderson, Newhall, from the Pioneer Cemetery Commission. Kimberly Kuch, Van Horne, was appointed to the board.
A wage and classification change for Dennis Shea was approved. His hourly pay will be $25.92. He has been an operator for one year. The board also discussed gravel roads, frost and lighting with Benton County Engineer Myron Parizek.
The board signed the East Central Iowa Local Workforce Development Area (ECILWDA) Shared Liability Agreement.
Change Order No. 4 was approved for the Racom Tower Project. It is for $135,901.25.
Early budget talk was held at the end of the meeting, including the impact of insurance and wellness.
