SUPERVISORS – 28E agreement signed with Hiawatha for EMS trust fund

VINTON – It was light business for the Benton County Board of Supervisors at their meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Benton County Service Center, Vinton.

The board approved the EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Claims, totaling $108,787.98.

EMS claims numbered 257921 through 257928 as follows:

  • North Benton Ambulance – $2,627.36
  • Blairstown Training – $2,199.00
  • North Benton Ambulance – $67,046.44
  • Belle Plaine Ambulance – $3,685.40
  • Atkins First Responders – $2,828.64
  • Hiawatha Transport – $15,900.00
  • North Benton Ambulance – $1,600.00
  • Belle Plaine Ambulance – $1,809.73
  • Belle Plaine Ambulance – $2,198.00
  • Hiawatha Transport – $750.00
  • North Benton Ambulance – $3,280.00
  • North Benton Vehicle Maint – $725.96
  • North Benton Ambulance – $562.98

Assistant Benton County Attorney Derek Marsh discussed the 28E Agreement with Hiawatha regarding EMS Funds (Resolution #26-59). Marsh explained the county’s trust fund policy allows the county to pay for out-of-county services. This is a three-year agreement. 

The board acknowledged the resignation of Terry Ehlinger, as part-time custodian at the sheriff’s office.

A Class C Alcohol License Renewal was approved for Kacena Farms. This is a 12-month license.
