VINTON – It was a short meeting for the Benton County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the Benton County Service Center in Vinton.
A land use hearing was held for Robert and Karen Walsh, Section 25, Taylor Township. They plan to build a new home. They currently live in Cedar Rapids. Land use administrator Marc Greenlee explained soil type, corn suitability rating, access, driveway, well and septic system and land use pattern of the area. Greenlee said this is the type of land the county looks for development.
The board acknowledged the retirement of Bruce Anderson in the Secondary Roads Department.
The board amended the public hearing date for maximum levy. The hearing date is March 9 at 9:30 a.m.
A committee will look into different ways to take the human resources responsibilities out of the auditor’s office. Board chairman Tracy Seeman said the committee should include a supervisor, county attorney, sheriff, engineer and Nancy Jorgensen from the auditor’s office. Seeman will represent the supervisors.
